Retirement Reception Honoring Dr. Margaret L. Phillips

Please join the OU Hudson College of Public Health for a retirement reception honoring Margaret L. Phillips, Ph.D., Professor and Chair, Department of Occupational and Environmental Health.

Dr. Phillips is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health. As the Industrial Hygiene Program Director, she oversaw the Department’s ABET-accredited Master of Science program in Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Health Sciences and its training grant funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health for more than 20 years. Before joining the faculty at the Hudson College of Public Health in 1996, Dr. Phillips worked as an industrial hygienist in private industry. Her experience as a practitioner informs her approach to teaching, where she emphasizes applying skills and knowledge to real-life scenarios and effectively communicating scientific information to professional peers, management, workers, and the public.

She earned her AB in Chemistry from Mount Holyoke College; her MS and PhD degrees in Chemistry from the University of Illinois; and her MHS in Industrial Hygiene from Johns Hopkins University, School of Hygiene & Public Health.

Her research interests include exposure assessment in occupational and community settings. She is an active member and former chair of the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s Nonionizing Radiation Committee. She has been a Certified Industrial Hygienist since 1993.

In retirement, she is relocating to Iowa to be with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchild. The OU Hudson College of Public Health wishes her the best.
