Dr. Daniel Zhao Elected to International Statistical Institute

The Hudson College of Public Health proudly announces that Dr. Daniel Zhao, Professor of Biostatistics and Associate Dean for Research, has been elected as a member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI). This prestigious recognition highlights his outstanding contributions to statistical science and his commitment to advancing the role of biostatistics in research, education, and global collaboration.

Dr. Zhao's election to the ISI—a global organization that promotes the development and application of statistics to address society's most pressing challenges—reflects the caliber of his professional achievements. With over 120 publications in leading biomedical and statistical journals, his research encompasses clinical trial design, adaptive methodologies, longitudinal data analysis, and Bayesian modeling. His expertise also extends to addressing real-world problems through statistical disclosure control and nonparametric analysis.

Beyond his research, Dr. Zhao serves as the Associate Director of Biostatistics and Research Design Shared Resource at the Stephenson Cancer Center, where he applies statistical insights to advance cancer research. His leadership extends to national platforms, such as his role on the National Cancer Institute's Gynecologic Cancers Steering Committee Cervical Cancer Task Force.

Dr. Zhao's dedication to mentorship and education has been widely recognized, earning him the Hudson College of Public Health’s Outstanding Faculty Award for Teaching and Mentoring and the Dean’s Master Teacher Award. His impact as a teacher and mentor ensures the next generation of biostatisticians is well-prepared to address global health challenges.

As an elected ISI member, Dr. Zhao joins an elite community of statisticians committed to enhancing the discipline's impact worldwide.
