The COVID-19 Committee (C19C) is a student-led committee that recruits and connects OUHSC students to COVID-19 projects and initiatives happening on campus. The C19C also recognizes student involvement in the fight to end the pandemic.
Sergio Preciado, a second-year medical student in the OU College of Medicine, served as a volunteer lead in the OUHSC Unity Clinic’s Community Vaccine Clinics. Sergio helped organize and orient volunteers before their shift began and helped gather and transport supplies for the vaccine clinics. He was interview by News9 where he encouraged the community to attend the vaccine clinics and get vaccinated during the peak of the Delta variant. The Unity Clinic is the first interprofessional student-led clinic in the state of Oklahoma with the goal of improving healthcare education, quality, and access. The clinic has a focus on patient-centered care, and the team collaborates with our community partners in designing a patient experience that is impactful for the patient and meaningful for our learners and clinicians. They focus on sustainability of programming which means we intend to design a clinical experience where the patient will have access to wrap-around services for ongoing wellness. This includes referral to community agencies and OU Health resources.
If you are a student who has been (or is) involved in the fight to end the pandemic, please connect with the C19C at https://bit.ly/3sFuR8z to have your contributions recognized.
