The COVID-19 Committee (C19C) is a student-led committee that recruits and connects OUHSC students to COVID-19 projects and initiatives happening on campus. The C19C also recognizes student involvement in the fight to end the pandemic.
Nazha Diwan, a second year MS candidate in Epidemiology, has been working on multiple COVID-19 related projects for the past year. She serves as a graduate research assistant for Dr. Mary Williams providing epidemiological and biostatistical support for Muskogee (creek ) nation assessing COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy and conducting community health needs assessments to examine the pandemic’s impact on this patient population. Nazha is currently conducting her own research project that aims to examine long-term consequences of COVID-19 among OU COVID-19 patients in Tulsa and OKC, a condition defined by the WHO today as Post COVID Conditions (PCC). Currently, the burden of this condition in Oklahoma is unknown. Nazha’s study will be the first study to estimate the prevalence of PCC in Oklahoma and examine demographic, clinical and COVID-19 severity features that may predispose patients to develop PCC.
If you are a student who has been (or is) involved in the fight to end the pandemic, please connect with the C19C at https://bit.ly/3sFuR8z to have your contributions recognized.
