Biostatistics and Epidemiology Professor Presents at Intercontinental Childhood Immune Thrombocytopenia Study Group in Switzerland

Dr. Dee Terrell, Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, was recently invited to the 7th Intercontinental Childhood Immune Thrombocytopenia Study Group (ICIS) in Switzerland. The meeting is held once every three years and is by invitation only to experts from around the world. Following the meeting, the experts meet about current issues in this disease and publish manuscripts that advance the field.
The topic of this year’s meeting was ‘Refractory Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP): Characterization, Definition and Management”. Dr. Terrell gave a lecture on “What is the burden of refractory ITP” where she presented preliminary results from an American Society of Hematology Award which is part of a qualitative study focused on understanding the patient’s perspective on the path to diagnosis.
