* The College offers MPH degree tracks in
biostatistics, epidemiology, health administration and policy, health promotion
sciences, occupational and environmental health, general public health and
public health preparedness and terrorism.
Admissions Requirements for all Degree Programs
The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center uses the 4.00 scale to
calculate grade point averages, with an "A" equal to 4.0. An applicant must
have a baccalaureate or entry level first professional degree from an accredited
university or college and a 3.0 grade point average (4.0 scale) in the last 60
hours of course work applied to the degree. The applicant must be in good
standing with the college or university where currently enrolled or last
attended in order to be considered for admission in full standing to a degree
program. If the applicant's transcript does not identify the last 60 hours, the
entire transcript will be evaluated for admission. An applicant who has
completed twelve hours or more of graded graduate level course work in an area
related to the degree program of interest may be considered for admission. The
applicant must have completed the course work at an accredited college or
university with a 3.0 grade point average in all graduate work attempted and be
in good standing with the college or university where currently enrolled or last
attended.
Additional prerequisites/requirements that apply to
some programs :
The Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Biostatistics, all Master of Science
(MS) degree programs within the Occupational and Environmental Health Department
and the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree programs have some additional
prerequisites/requirements for admission.
How to Apply to
the College of Public Health
All applicants admission to degree programs at the OU College of Public Health will apply
through Schools of Public Health Application Service (SOPHAS). SOPHAS is
the centralized application service used by accredited schools of public
health. SOPHAS will collect your information and supplemental materials and
send them to the OU College of Public Health as well as other schools you
designate. You will be able to apply to several institutions through one
application. Applying through SOPHAS eliminates the need to fill out multiple
application forms. Individual institutions have unique deadlines and may also
require supplemental material and fees in addition to those required by SOPHAS.
A complete application to the OU College of Public Health will include:
1. Completed
SOPHAS application(www.sophas.org) and payment of required fee.
Fee amount varies based on number of designated schools.
2. Supplemental application and fee
All applicants to the OU College of Public Health are required to submit a
supplemental application and fee. The supplemental application fee for MPH, MHA and DrPH applicants is $90.00. The supplemental application fee for MS and PhD applicants is $65.00. The COPH supplemental
application is available at https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=uok-ph.
3.Transcripts
SOPHAS requires a separate official transcript from every
U.S. and Canadian institution attended. You must arrange for official
transcripts from all prior undergraduate, graduate, and professional study to be
sent to:

The application process also requires you to complete a
section detailing all degrees earned and institutions attended. You are required
to list and give information concerning all coursework you have taken
(undergraduate, graduate and professional programs). You will need to have a
copy of your transcripts in hand so that you will be able to complete the
coursework section of the application. Do not enter foreign courses taken at
Universities outside the U.S. or Canada.
International applicants: International
applicants to the OU College of Public Health are required to submit
transcripts/mark sheets to the World Education Services (www.wes.org ) for a course-by-course evaluation. Applicants should designate SOPHAS to

4. References
Three letters of recommendation are required.
Recommenders are asked to complete a brief questionnaire, (accessible within the SOPHAS application), in addition to writing a letter. Recommendations can be
sent electronically or mailed to SOPHAS. Further Instructions are available
within the SOPHAS application.
5. Career goal
statement
This personal essay should be created in a word processing
program and pasted into the online SOPHAS application. Complete instructions
are within the SOPHAS application.
6. Current CV/ Resume
The SOPHAS application allows you to upload your CV or
resume before electronically submitting your application. You
will not be able to upload your electronic resume after you submit your SOPHAS
application. You may elect to send a hard copy of the resume directly to the OU
College of Public Health.
7. International applicants are required to submit TOEFL scores to SOPHAS using the
designation code #5688.
Minimum TOEFL scores are 570 paper test; 230 computerized
version; 88 iBT version.
8. The programs below require GRE scores. Designation code: 4244.
. Master of Science (MS)
degree in industrial hygiene, environmental health science or the
dual environmental health science / industrial hygiene.
. Master of Health Administration (MHA) only if the
grade point average of the last 60 credit hours of coursework is less than 3.5.
(GMAT may also fulfill this requirement for MHA applicants whose GPA is less
than 3.5 in the last 60 credit hours.)
. All PhD programs
Applicants to Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree
programs, the Certificate of Public Health program and the Doctor of Public
Health (DrPH) program as well as to Master of Science (MS) degree programs in
biostatistics, epidemiology, and health promotion sciences are not required to submit GRE scores.
